Abstract: In this work the connection between the models of virtual worlds created using VRML and the real-time audio technology has been performed. The audio has been enriched using spatial sound effects and efficiency of our application has been measured. The client-server technology based VIRACO package has been implemented in Java using Java Media Framework. The server part manages and controls data transfers between participants of the virtual reality audio conference, which includes their locations inside the virtual world and their audio output. The clients receive the audio data (real-time streams) from other participants of the conference and send their own audio streams and the current position data. In addition, the clients provide the user interface and supervise the graphical representation of users inside the virtual environment.
