As one of the main project’s contributions, the
developed information extraction techniques are being applied to the
investigations of muscular cramps, plasticity of human motor cortex and
exercise induced muscle impairments. These investigations are already
underway
at Politecnico di
Torino (group lead by Prof. Roberto Merletti),
Aalborg
University (group lead by Prof. Dario Farina), University of Turin
(Dr.
Marco
Alessandro Minetto) and University
of Jyväskylä (group lead by Prof.
Janne M.
Avela), respectively. All these studies share the same EMG acquisition
modalities, focus on investigations of dynamic EMG and suffer from the
lack of
advanced information extraction techniques, which is addressed in this
project.
The exact experimental protocols are designed, controlled and conducted
by the
aforementioned research groups, with approval from their local ethics
committees.
