Project STAMINA
We are a proud consortium member of STAMINA project (https://stamina-project.eu/), which has started in September 2020. The goal of the project is to develop an intelligent decision support platform for pandemic prediction and management. Institute of Computer Science at UM FERI is working together with Community Healthcare Centre Dr. Adolf Drolc, Maribor on identifying gaps in Slovenian pandemic management and pandemic meta-data description.

The First Prize in IEEE Region 8 Student Competition goes to our Student Kristjan Stopar
Our student Kristjan Stopar won the first prize award at the IEEE Region 8 Student Paper Contest (https://ieeer8.org/student-activities/spc2020result/). Together with his student colleagues Pia Žnidaršič and Urban Košale he developed a device for kinesthetic navigation of the blind and visually impaired. The final competition of the IEEE Region 8 Student Paper Contest has been organized in the framework of IEEE MELECON 2020 international conference (http://melecon2020.org/). Under supervision of assistant Jernej Kranjec and Prof. Aleš Holobar, Kristjan won the first prize award, despite being only in his 2nd year of the 1st Cycle Bologna Study Programme Computer Science and Information Technologies. Congratulations!

We presented advanced methods for interpretation of electromyograms, acquired by non-invasive surface electrodes and their potential clinical applications.

DEMUSE - software for decomposition of multichannel surface electromyograms
A new version of the DEMUSE tool has been released. The tool enables fully automatic and highly accurate identification of motor unit discharge patterns out of multichannel surface electromyograms. For details, see demuse.feri.um.si.

RTV Slovenija crew led by the journalist Saška Jazbec shooted a reportage for the regional TELE M broadcast at the University Rehabilitation Institute Soča in Ljubljana. Prof. Dr. Imre Cikajlo (URI Soča), Prof. Dr. Damjan Zazula (System Software Laboratory of Maribor), and Prof. Dr. Nika Goljar (URI Soča) talked about the research and experience with a system of unobtrusive sensors that, developed within the Biomedical Engineering Competence Centre and installed in Dom Iris at Soča, measure and assess human functional health. TELE M broadcasted the reportage on July 16, 2014.

Prof. Dr. Aleš Holobar had an invited speech at The 11th Nanotehnology Day in Ljubljana on May 9, 2014. His speech on human-machine communication drew the attention of Saška Jazbec, a journalist of RTV Slovenija. She organised TV shooting of research achievements in the System Software Laboratory of Maribor. We demonstrated our own computer tool for a decomposition and analysis of muscle signals (EMG) and sensory devices and methods that we developed for unobtrusive measuring of functional-health parameters at home.
